The Best Homemade Lasagna

This homemade lasagna will stop you from ever buying lasagna from the store. With the amazingly rich and meaty sauce and cheesy goodness you will not regret trying this recipe. Let me know what you think below. Happy cooking everyone!

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large pan over medium heat add 1 pound mild ground italian sausage and 1 pound ground beef. Cook breaking up into small pieces until no longer pink, around 10-15 minutes.
  3. Once your meat is fully cooked add in 2 cloves minced garlic and 48 ounces pasta sauce. (For my homemade pasta sauce click Here) Let simmer for 2-3 minutes then set aside.

4. In a medium bowl add 15 ounces ricotta cheese or cottage cheese, 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup parmasan cheese or 6 Tbsps nutritional yeast, 2 tsps dried parsley, and 1/4 tsp salt. Mix until well combined.

5. To the bottom of your baking dish add 1/2 cup of the meat mixture to the bottom and top with 3 oven ready lasagna noodles.

6. Add 1/3 of the cheese mixture to the top of the noodles, and 1/4 of the meat mixture on top of that. Repeat layers, noodles, cheese, sauce.

7. Top with the last 3 lasagna noodles and the remaining meat mixture. Top with 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese.

8. Spray a piece of tin foil with non stick cooking spray and cover the top of your lasagna.

9. Bake for 50 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Or until sauce is bubbly, cheese is melted and noodles are fully cooked.

10. Let lasagna cool for 10 minutes.

11. Serve and enjoy!

I use to think making homemade lasagna would be hard, but its acutally one of the easiest recipes I have. Just mix layer and bake and you’ve got a delicious homemade meal that everyone will love! Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think. Happy cooking everyone!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 pound mild Italian ground sausage

  • 48 ounces pasta sauce *see notes*

  • 15 ounces cottage cheese or ricotta cheese

  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella, divided

  • 2 large eggs

  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese or 6 Tbsps nutritional yeast

  • 2 tsps dried parsley

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 12 oven ready lasagna noodles

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 garlic cloves

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  • In a large pan over medium heat add ground beef and Italian sausage and cook until no longer pink and broken up into small pieces, around 10-15 minutes.
  • Once meat is done cooking add your pasta sauce (or see notes below for making your own pasta sauce) and garlic cloves. Mix and let simmer for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl add cottage/ricotta cheese, parmesan/nutritional yeast, salt, eggs, parsley, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix until well combined.
  • To the bottom of the casserole dish add 1/2 cup of the meat mixture and top with 3 uncooked oven ready lasagna noodles.
  • To the top of the noodles add 1/3 of the cheese mixture then 1/4 of the sauce mixture. Repeat layers, noodles, cheese, sauce.
  • Add the last 3 lasagna noodles and top with remaining sauce and shredded mazzarella cheese.
  • Around the edges of your lasagna add the water.
  • Take a piece of tin foil and spray with non stick cooking spray. Cover your lasagna and bake for 50 minutes.
  • Remove cover and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until sauce is bubbling, cheese is fully melted, and noodles are fully cooked.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!
